rfc 3411, "architecture snmp management frameworks", states snmpengineid must unique each engine in network. in practice, that's same unique per agent.

so, if 1 router has several snmp agents running on it, each of agents have own snmpengineid.

3.1.1.1. snmpengineid within administrative domain, snmpengineid unique , unambiguous identifier of snmp engine. since there one-to- 1 association between snmp engines , snmp entities, uniquely , unambiguously identifies snmp entity within administrative domain. note possible snmp entities in different administrative domains have same value snmpengineid. federation of administrative domains may necessitate assignment of new values.
