i'm surprise see statistics in google analytics page 1 of android app , noticed following strange informations

i have answered the current possible solution, doesn't make corrections available old data sets please let me know ways correct old data sets , out of cons mentioned in answer!

bots , referral spam 2 different things, answer posted bots. going refer article removing referral spam here

normally there 3 types of junk visits:

  1. ghost referrals darodar / ilovevitaly / cenoval
  2. creepy crawlers semalt (a.k.a. best-seo-solution.com) , fake referrals maridan.com.ua , blog.ranksonic.com.
  3. well behaved bots , spiders

issue number 1

i suspect data being inserted directly analytics account directly though measurement protocol. because have several old google analytics accounts showing hits, websites these accounts no longer exist , haven't existed in years. have old application account yours no longer has data sent shows data daily. way data inserted them if doing directly, hits coming known referral spam sites (the big list). there has been lot of talk on net lately on how deal first 2 problems. google has not come solution of writing this. article gives few ways of dealing it. here

issue number 2:

this hard detect, thing site. filter on known bad crawlers helps.
